In compliance with the constitutional mission of ensuring the protection of all citizens, the Colombian Navy participated in a meeting with civil authorities, government and Military Forces, with the aim of establishing strategies to increase security levels in the Special District of Buenaventura.
During the meeting, the current situation of law and order in the Yurumanguà and Raposo rivers, in the rural area of the Special District, was monitored due to the alleged armed confrontation between the Organized Armed Group ELN and the Residual Organized Armed Group Jaime MartÃnez, which apparently has caused the forced displacement of several inhabitants of the village of the Raposo river, who will be assisted as victims by the District Mayor's Office of Buenaventura.
This meeting was attended by the Commander of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.2 of the Colombian Navy, the Technical Investigation Corps- CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), the Ombudsman's Office, a delegate of the United Nations Organization– UN, the People's Representative for District human rights, the Commander of the National Police of Buenaventura, the Office of the Provincial inspector, the Secretariat of District Coexistence, the Secretariat of District Government and the National Protection Unit – UNP.
Other aspects verified were the current situation in the locality No.11, specifically in the Carlos Holmes neighborhood.
For their part, the Military and Police Forces continue their active presence in the territory, carrying out land patrols and river operations, with their logistical resources and uniformed personnel ready to strengthen urban and rural security.
The Colombian Navy will continue to work in coordination with the Military Forces and government institutions, carrying out operations and activities to support development, to provide security and tranquility to the inhabitants of the Colombian Pacific.
