The Municipal mayor provided a reward of 20 million pesos for those who give information that leads the capture of those responsible.
After the recent threats to 11 social leaders through pamphlets that circulated in the municipality of El Salado, in the region of Montes de Maria, an Extraordinary Security Council was carried out, with local, government, and military authorities in El Carmen de Bolivar to take the necessary measures that guarantee the life and security of the social leaders in this area of the Colombian Caribbean region.
During the meeting that took place in El Carmen de Bol铆var, the Mayor, together with representatives of the Colombian Navy, the National Police, the Presidential Office for Human Rights and International Affairs, the Attorney General's office and municipal and governmental authorities, analyzed the operations to guarantee the security and good physical condition of the leaders, as well as the strengthening of the number of units.
As a result of these commitments, the Colombian Navy through the Caribbean Naval Force will continue to deploy troops attached to Navy Infantry Brigade No.1, who permanently conduct patrols and work plans on the municipalities of the subregion of the Montes de Mar铆a, to counteract the different groups outlaw that commit crimes in the area. At the same time, troops of the military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Bol铆var intensify controls and activities to prevent crimes that attack personal freedom, encouraging denunciations through the toll-free line 147.
Rear Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obreg贸n, commander of the Naval Force of the Caribbean, said that the commitment of the Colombian Navy is to provide immediate support for security needs, to obtain results and continue working for the tranquility of the Montes de Mar铆a, achieving the work of the Elite Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the military forces, whose mission is territorial control.
The Military Forces will support the authorities in research work in the area to determine who the authors of these threats are and the Mayor of El Carmen de Bolivar provided a reward of 20 million pesos to anyone who gives information leading to the capture of those responsible.
