The Minister of Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, chaired a meeting with the military and police high command, along with the director of national parks, Orlando Molano, to discuss issues of environmental sustainability in order to protect the Colombian Amazon.
"We have made a very important effort over the last 3 years to protect national natural parks and protect the Amazon," said Molano.
In the PRE COP that prepares Colombia's position on what will be discussed in Glasgow related to the sustainable development goals, the commitment of all air, sea and land soldiers and police officers to protect natural parks was ratified.
"More than 59 parks must be part of the protection areas of our Military Forces", at the same time the head of the ministry of Defence announced that "we made the decision to expand the military and police campaign Artemisa to directly support these national parks, protect biodiversity and also to accompany the park rangers".
In the same way, the decision was made to train soldiers in environmental issues so that they can acquire their certification and help in ecological restoration.
"Today the commitment of the Military and Police Forces to the environment, to the protection of water, biodiversity and forests in Colombia is ratified."
We continue to fight in defense and relentlessly against all those who attack nature protecting natural parks, not only of Colombia, but in the same way of the world.
