After a week of continuous fighting against this residual structure, the troops of the Infantry Battalion N.° 56 in Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, found three houses from where criminal operations were committed and weapons were stored.
As a result of the ongoing operation carried out by Colombian National Army and in response to the recent criminal operations carried out by the Residual Jaime Martínez Organized Armed Group, in the rural area of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, troops of the 56th Infantry Battalion found three houses in the Pastico sector, Naya region, from which alleged members of this illegal group were committing crimes.
Military intelligence information, as well as joint and coordinated operations with the National Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, led to the arrival of the troops in the sector, where it was in the same way possible to arrest one of these individuals, the recovery of a minor used by this residual structure, and who would have participated in the continuous fighting and attacks caused by this group that hits the communities of the area.
Some houses were in the same way used as a hiding place for weapons, from where they were transported to other areas of the department, as well as to strategic points of the Cauca Pacific coast, where illegal armed groups belonging to the Central General Staff commit crimes.
The search efforts led to finding a high-precision rifle for hitting aircraft, ammunition, magazines and military accessory material.
In the same way, banners alluding to this GAO-r were found by troops, the placement of which has the sole purpose of generating anxiety in the inhabitants. All this material, together with the arrested man, was put into custody of the corresponding authorities for their respective prosecution. With regard to the minor, he was handed over to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute for the restitution of his rights.
This operation, which was made possible thanks to a joint and coordinated work with the National Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, leads to continuing to counter the criminal intentions of the illegal armed groups present on the Pacific coast. In addition, the criminal operations of this residual structure that persists in committing serious violations of IHL and transgressing HHRR by committing the confinement and displacement of the communities near the banks of the Naya River are significantly hindered.
