Manuel Fernando Álvarez Hernández, alias Limones, had an arrest warrant for the crimes of forced recruitment of minors and vulnerable people.
Thanks to the intelligence work, National Army troops, with the support of the National Police, carried out the arrest, by judicial order, of alias Limones, alleged ringleader of the Southwestern war front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, in the El Poblado I neighborhood of Cali, Valle del Cauca.
The arrested would have criminal interference in sectors of Cali and Popayán, carrying out activities of collecting money from extortions, forced recruitment of minors and Venezuelan people, as well as forced displacements in the municipality of Guapi, in the department of Cauca.
The arrest of this individual, 34 years old, took place in the EL Poblado I neighborhood, of locality 13, in the capital city of Valle del Cauca and was put into custody of the authorities.
Alias Limones would be an instructor of special groups within the ELN and a sniper. In 2018 he was arrested and charged with the crime of selective homicide and theft, and was released in 2020. That same year he resumed criminal recruitment activities, coordinating with members of the Urban Militia Network, in the municipalities of Puerto Tejada and Popayán, in Cauca, and in Cali, Valle del Cauca.
In 2022, he led confrontations against the Rafael Aguilera group, of the Western Coordinating Command, in the rural area of Guapi, and is accused of selective homicides on the urban perimeter of this Caucan municipality.
