In compliance with the Ayacucho Strategic Campaign Plan, troops of the Battalion No. 20, of the Seventh Brigade, in an operation coordinated with the National Police, managed to arrest, by judicial order, alias Maraña, allegedly a member of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The arrest was carried out by means of tactical area search and military intelligence work; the man allegedly specialized in the theft of people by sea and intimidated the victims with the collection of “vaccines,” money and extortion fees, as well as the carrying out of selective homicides. All these operations were a source of financing for this structure outlaw.
Alias Maraña was put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office 12, Villavicencio sectional, for the crime of aggravated homicide. In this way, it was possible to neutralize the extortion crimes in the region, against the productive groups of merchants, ranchers, farmers and people in general, contributing to generate the security conditions to carry out their economic activities.
Colombian National Army in the department of Meta, through joint and inter-institutional work with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, continues to firmly counter criminal groups in the Colombian southeast, weakening threats and instability factors, working for the security of civilians and the governance of the territory.
