In a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, alias Chuky, the alleged financial ringleader of the Erlin Pino Duarte Substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, was arrested in the department of Bolívar.
In an area military checkpoint, troops of the Bolivar Military Gaula and the Elite Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Groups), attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1, with the support of men of the Judicial Investigation Section, found alias Chuky, on a public road in the village of Betania, a rural area of the municipality of Montecristo, South of Bolívar.
The arrest was made in compliance with an arrest order against him for the alleged crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes for the purposes of homicide, drug trafficking and aggravated homicide, where a firearm, a magazine, 9 9mm cartridges and communication equipment were in the same way seized.
This individual served as the alleged area ringleader of the Manuel José Gaitán substructure, which commits crimes in the subregion of La Sabana Sucreña, in the urban and rural areas of the municipalities of Sincelejo and Sampués, where he directed extortion activities.
Sometime later, he would have been the financial ringleader of the Erlín Pino Duarte substructure, committing crimes in the Southern subregion of Bolívar, specifically in the rural area of the municipalities of El Banco -Magdalena, Montecristo - Bolívar and Nechí - Antioquia, where since the end of 2022 he had been carrying out illicit activities to lower the criminal profile he exhibited in the department of Sucre, when he was a member of the Manuel José Gaitán substructure.
According to the investigations, this individual was the one who coordinated and ordered the armed strike and the Pistol plan where 15 members of the National Police were killed, in Sincelejo, in July 2022, he is in the same way the alleged mastermind of the recent extortion absent the Surtigas company.
Alias Chuky was part of this gang for more than five years, carrying out criminal activities; he was put into custody of the specialized Prosecutor's Office 138 of Monteria.
