Norte de Santander. In military operations framed in the Bicentennial Plan - Héroes de la Libertad and directed to counteract the theft of hydrocarbons, troops of the National Army, arrived at the site known as Caño Victoria, in the municipality of Tibú, in the department of Norte de Santander, where they found four illegal refineries.
In search operations, the soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No. 1 "General Simón Bolívar", found the four refineries that had 11 pools that contained the stolen petroleum taken through illegal valves, and that by means of hoses was transported to improvised wells.
In total, the troops found 3,866 gallons of petroleum, five Martians (distillation towers), 25 barrels used to transport the processed petroleum, four storage tanks, 500 meters of hose and 19 barrels, among other elements used for the production of narcotics.
According to the information obtained by military intelligence, these refineries belong to the Organized Armed Group 'Los Pelusos', who after stealing the hydrocarbon proceeded to refine it and use it in the production of narcotics.
It should be noted that when improvising these refineries and conducting the different processes in the middle of the vegetation, the damages that are caused to the water sources and the environment are irreparable.
