Since dawn, soldiers trained in disaster care and prevention arrived in the municipality of Venecia, Antioquia, to provide support and assistance to the inhabitants in the midst of a difficult situation caused by heavy rains.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, whose strategic objective is to protect the inhabitants, the command of the Fourth Brigade immediately mobilized its units upon learning of the emergency that disturbed Venecia. Soldiers of the Engineer Battalion of Assistance and Prevention of Disasters No.81, highly trained and equipped to deal with such situations, were deployed in the struck area.
Since their arrival, the soldiers have worked tirelessly to support those who have been beaten and carry out a rigorous search for those who are still missing. Their efforts will not stop until they ensure that every resident of Venecia receives the necessary assistance.
In the midst of the search and rescue efforts, the soldiers demonstrated their commitment to the inhabitants and the local fauna. During the care, they rescued a reptile hit by the avalanche. The animal was assisted and stabilized before being handed over to the authorities for care.
These acts of solidarity by the soldiers of Colombian National Army reflect their specialization to protect and serve the community. Together with the State institutions, they will continue to give their invaluable assistance to the inhabitants of Venecia, reaffirming their role as true guardians of the nation.
