The ceremony was attended by delegates from several countries, UN officials, religious leaders, NGOs and students from different universities around the world.
New York. The NGO Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) and the UN, granted the National Army the recognition for the efforts promoting and respecting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The event took place at the 15th Annual International Human Rights Summit held in New York. They highlighted the work done by the institution, and especially by the Commander of the Seventh Division, Brigadier General Alberto Sep煤lveda Ria帽o.
There the efforts to provide a message of peace and tolerance to those most hit by the armed conflict in Colombia were recognized, helping to create a culture of peace and tolerance, especially in the most recondite areas of the national geography.
According to Youth for Human Rights International, the work of comprehensive action carried out for several years by the Officer, is among the main merits and arguments to grant him that recognition.
In the same way, they highlighted the tireless work of General Sepulveda and the National Army for the children and youth, showing examples such as the support provided during the emergencies in Mocoa in 2017 and in Hidroituango this year. They, in the same way, valued the work, in the midst of difficulties, to protect and take care of the communities in times of high vulnerability.
General Sep煤lveda Ria帽o, had the opportunity to expose and show the different initiatives that have been deployed in the departments of C贸rdoba, Antioquia and Choc贸, in favor of the safety and wellbeing of the inhabitants.
At the end of this speech, the General received, from delegates of the different member nations of the UN, YHRI officials, religious and human rights leaders, local activists and students of different universities, a long and moving ovation.
