Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, the military engineers of the Eighth Brigade, during the year 2023 have worked for the people of the department of Quindío, through the maintenance of tertiary roads. In recent days, the Battalion of Engineers N°8, Francisco Javier Cisneros, after conducting the maintenance of seven kilometers, made the presentation to the inhabitants of three villages found in rural area of the municipality of Salento.
For several months, the soldiers of the Eighth Brigade, in agreement with InVías and government institutions, within the Colombia Rural project, carried out works of art recovery, installation of rock material, such as leveling and compaction, shaping the layer for cleaning drains.
Thus, for these activities, the Military Unit sent a construction group made of 18 men, including an officer, a non-commissioned officer and specialized soldiers yellow line machinery operators, with knowledge in horizontal construction and water management works; in the same way, they used two backhoes, two vibrocompactors, two motor graders, a water tank truck and a dump truck. As the work progressed, the inhabitants of the sector who traveled along this route expressed gratitude to the operators.
The Mayor of Salento, Quindío expressed gratitude to Colombian National Army: This is an institution that always accompanies the community, that is thriving and that works for the safety of the inhabitants. On the other hand, Colonel Carlos Eduardo Vanegas Ávila, expressed with pride and satisfaction during the distribution of the work: “[it is] a commitment fulfilled with the municipality of Salento and I want to thank the people and I want to tell them that the Army is not only weapons, we are all the Army and we are here to accompany you and contribute to the regions.”
In the same way, he invites all the students, the peasants of the sector and the tourists to benefit from a road with better conditions for traveling to their places of study, visiting and to transport their agricultural products to the distribution cities.
