With the purpose to ensure the health and well-being of the military men and women who support the reconstruction of the island of Providencia, the Army Health office has teams of doctors, care and psychological support for the operation of the military to ensure their well-being after the recovery, and adaptation activities of the island.
To fulfill this mission, promotion, prevention and protection activities have been carried out in the face of the challenges posed to military health professionals by the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, they in the same way complement Non-Commissioned Officers with specialties in Nursing, who have focused their efforts on preventing and reducing the contagion by the virus in the military inhabitants present on the island. It has in the same way ensured timely assistance to wounds and superficial procedures produced during the removal of debris and construction of houses by Military Engineers of the Army.
These medical and care services have in the same way been provided to the inhabitants of the island who have found in our army health personnel timely, efficient and humane support in the circumstances generated by Hurricane iota in Providencia.
For its part, the Military Psychology team conducts activities and trainings on the mitigation of situations of violence produced out of combat within the framework of the campaign: I am Guardian of my strength. Educational activities on the Prevention of gender-based violence have in the same way been carried out in partnership with the National Police and the Ministry of Health.
