According to information this laboratory would belong to the GAO “Clan del Golfo” and would have the capacity to weekly produce 4000 kilos of potassium permanganate, valued at nearly 800 million pesos, that is, more than 3200 million per month.
In military operations, launched by the National Army in the Urabá region in the department of Antioquia against drug trafficking, in recent hours it was possible to discovery and later dismantle an illegal laboratory that produced potassium permanganate, a vital chemical precursor used in the production of hydrochloride of cocaine.
The finding took place in the municipality of Juradó, rural area of Chigorodó. Where the military, guided by information of military intelligence, found the site that apparently would belong to the substructure Carlos Vásquez of that organized armed group.
The troops found a structure of 875 square meters that this GAO had destined for the manufacture of this chemical precursor, which was later distributed to the cocaine laboratories where it was added to finish the production of the drug.
In this laboratory, they discovered 1500 kilos of potassium permanganate, 150 kilos of caustic soda, as well as equipment and machines that were used by criminals to produce the chemical product.
According to information this place could produce more than 16,000 kilos per month, representing profits of more than 3,200 million for the Clan del Golfo.
