Caquetá. Soldiers of the Humanitarian Demining Engineers Battalion n. ° 1, reaffirmed that, in 2019, their work will continue with the technique of mechanical demining in the municipality of El Pará in the municipality of Florencia, in the department of Caquetá.

The machine that has a system of traction on tracks driven by hydraulic pumps, can work up to six hours a day, in terrains up to 35 degrees of inclination.
Comparing the work that is carried out in an area of five thousand square meters, the minesweeper could spent five or eight days, accelerating with this, the operation that a Unit of four mine clearance specialists implementing the technique of manual demining, would achieve in two or three months covering approximately 65 square meters per day. So, less time is necessary and the work is done with high quality
In addition to implementing this technique, the military continue with manual and dogs supported demining, in the municipalities of Puerto Rico, San Vicente del Caguan, El Doncello, El Paujil, La Montañita, Belén de los Andaquíes, San José del Fragua, Valparaíso and Florencia.
In 2018, the mine clearance specialists gave the Santo Domingo hamlet of the municipality of Florencia, in the department of Caquetá, and Puerto Santander, in the department of Amazonas, as free land of suspicion of contamination by explosive devices.
In the same way, they cleared with manual demining more than 275,000 square meters, about nine thousand square meters with mechanical demining and more than a thousand meters with dogs demining technique, completing more than 285,000 square meters cleared, where 63 antipersonnel mines, 11 unexploited ammunition and eight explosive devices were found, benefiting more than 200,000 thousand inhabitants.
In this way, Colombian soldiers in humanitarian demining are conducting in the decontamination of the country.
