Alias Breiner, alleged member of the security group of alias Mayimbú, first ringleader of the Jaime Martínez structure, and alias La Puerca, accused to be the recruiter of minors of the criminal structure of the Sixth Column Jaime Martínez structure, were captured by soldiers of the National Army in the middle of a military operation carried out in the village La Sirena, in the municipality of Suárez, department of Cauca.
Troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 4, together with the Aviation Brigade No. 33, of the Third Division of the National Army, carried out a military operation with a checkpoint on the road, in coordination with the National Police, in order to intercept a suspicious vehicle, allegedly stolen, which was detected thanks to military intelligence.
The two detained individuals were in the vehicle, as well as two minors who had been recruited against their will and were apparently being taken to a subversive camp. These two minors were recovered and left with the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute (ICBF), to start the process of re-establishing their rights.
In the middle of the operation, the two detained individuals, upon noticing the presence of the troops, left the vehicle with the aim of give the military personnel one hundred million pesos to stop the capture. The money was immediately rejected thanks to the convictions and military values of these soldiers. They proceeded to carry out the capture, with the aggravating circumstance of the attempted bribery.
This crime of forced recruitment of minors once again demonstrates the flagrant violation of human rights and violation of international humanitarian law committed by this residual organized armed group in the department of Cauca. In the operation, the vehicle where the individuals were traveling was recovered, and two hand grenades and cash were found. The individuals and the material found were put into custody of the authorities to start the judicial process.
