The individual, known as alias Pelu or President, was arrested by troops of the Antioquia Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, after collecting an extortion for $75,000,000 COP.
Up to a farm in the Altos de Chirí village, in the municipality of Briceño, Antioquia, troops of the National Army and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office arrived to arrest alias Pelu or President, alleged member of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln, in charge of collecting money by $ 75,000,000, COP, the product of extortions.
Although the individual used a facade as a Communitarian action Board leader of the Altos de Chirí village, on this occasion he acted as an envoy of the GAO Eln to receive money demanded, previously, by the alleged ringleader of the gang.
According to the investigations, in recent days, the alleged extortionists would have killed some cows on the farm, as a reprisal for not paying the extortion. At the time of the arrest of alias Pelu or Presidente, several envelopes of herbicides were found by troops, which could generate the poisoning of animals to cause death, according to veterinary experts.
The arrested man and the items found were put into custody of the authorities.
The National Army ratifies its commitment to the security of Antioquians and is constantly using line 147 to provide support in any case of extortion or kidnapping, in order to continue neutralizing the criminal operations committed by organized armed groups that intimidate people in this region of the country.
