The military operation that led to the arrest of alias Guajiro, was carried out in the village of Santa Rosa, municipality of Planadas - Tolima.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Operational Campaign Plan, troops of the Fifth Division of the National Army, Colombian Aerospace Force, National Police and in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, led to the arrest and neutralization of the criminal plans of the individual known as Licho or Guajiro, who would be the main ringleader of the Residual Organized Armed Group, Ismael Ruiz, accused of being the alleged responsible for the murder of seven police officers in the village San Luis, rural area of the municipality of Neiva; this individual would be carrying out criminal activities against members of the Military Forces and civilians.
The 38-year-old man had a court order for arrest for the crimes of aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide, association to commit aggravated crimes, aggravated and aggravated burglary and damage to other people's property, manufacturing, trafficking, carrying and manufacturing of weapons, explosives and ammunition.
The arrested, according to the authorities, would have had an extensive criminal record. He would have joined the illegal armed organization as a member of the Support Network for Residual Structures, and after his criminal operations, he would make up the armed component and was subsequently appointed head of finance, directing the collection of money from extortion in the south of Tolima and northwest of Huila.
According to information, once he was appointed the main ringleader of the structure, he would have orchestrated several criminal operations, which today thanks to the decisive operation of the State security and investigation agencies, have been neutralized, including the objective of expanding the interference zones, ordered by the so-called Central General Staff, to continue strengthening its finances through extortion and drug trafficking, seeking to have control of strategic routes for the entry and exit of logistics material.
Criminal operations
In addition to the murder of seven police officers, perpetrated on September 2, 2022 in the village of San Luis de Neiva, alias Guajiro was reportedly part of the group that incinerated a vehicle that was covering the Ibague - China Alta route in Tolima.
He is in the same way being investigated for his participation in the threats and intimidation of the Representative of the municipality of Ataco Tolima and the homicide of a citizen in the village of La Marina in the municipality of Chaparral.
