Presumably this material would be used in the illegal exploitation of gold in the Upper West of region of Caldas.
National Army troops, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office and its technical research corps, CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), in the frame of the Ayacucho plan, found a hideout of explosive materials and blasting accessories, which were allegedly going to be sold in the illegal market for the illicit exploitation of mining deposits.
Thanks to the intelligence work, the troops reached the municipality of Marmato, Caldas, to a house in the municipality, which was apparently used as a hiding place for explosives. In the illegal hiding place, 489 anfo-type units with an approximate weight of 88 kilograms, 281 meters of security fuse and four rolls of polyethylene tube bag to pack the explosives, were found by troops; this material would have a commercial cost of more than 22 million pesos.
At the scene of the events, a person was arrested in flagrante delicto for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying weapons, ammunition for restricted and exclusive use of the Military Forces or explosives and was put into custody of the authority for indictment.
With this inter-institutional operation, the intention of the organized armed groups is neutralized, which seek to perpetrate criminal operations in the department and obtain rents of the irregular mines that operate in the Upper West of Caldas.
