In a joint operation troops of the Thirteen Brigade of the National Army neutralized illegal mining in the municipality of Soacha, in the department of Cundinamarca.
In military operations related to Operation Artemisa and the Operation Pedro Pascasio Martinez against the illegal mining, the Military Police Battalion N°13, the Thirteenth Brigade, along with the Direction of the National Police, in support of the Brigade Against Illegal Mining, four people were arrested in flagrante delicto at the villages Chacua and Piedras Blancas of the municipalities Soacha and Sibaté.
Within the framework of this operation that is being conducted in contribution to the protection of the environment, water and biodiversity of ecosystems, it was found that this organized group was carrying out illicit activities on vegetation production and burning of coal, attributing to the alleged crimes of Damage to Natural Resources and Environmental Pollution, a damage that would take 10 to 30 years to recover.
With this arrest, it is possible to harm illegal mining in the area by approximately $ 30,000,000 million pesos per month, money which will not be received by the finances of organized criminal groups, which profit by damaging the environmental assets of the country.
In the same way, the finding of materials and tools used in this purpose was obtained.
