The coordination of efforts, the information provided by the Civic Participation Network and the intelligence work, led to a new blow to the residual structures that try to position their criminal operations in the department of Huila. This is the arrest of Pedro Sánchez Méndez, alias Alexander Hernández or Willinton, head of finance of the residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Óscar el Mocho company, of the Second Marquetalia.
Willinton, who would have been designated ringleader by Almin Rada Rada, alias Brandon, neutralized on September 29, had the mission of leading the monetary extortions of farmers, merchants and contractors of Huila and Caquetá, concentrating his criminal operation in the municipalities of Neiva, Baraya and Tello, being arrested in the latter.
It was in the municipality of Cedral where, in a public place where bets on roosters were been carried out, the joint operation conducted by the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Ninth Brigade and the Metropolitan Police and the police of Huila, led to the arrest after the confrontation with shots at the Military Forces trying to evade the operation.
During the operation, it was found a nine-millimeter Prieto Beretta pistol with two magazines and 31 cartridges for it, a weapon he allegedly used during his operations to intimidate productive groups in the region.
Criminal record
Willinton has an extensive criminal record with judicial searches for the crimes of aggravated homicide against a public servant, association to commit aggravated crimes, personal injury and manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of firearms, for events reported conducted by 2010 and 2011.
It in the same way, he has notes in the military intelligence database for acts of land piracy on the Ibagué - Chaparral road, in 2018.
His most recent criminal activities related to the extortion to strengthen the financial structure, included intimidations calls, human mails, distribution of leaflets and graffiti alluding to the column Teófilo Forero Castro.
His arrest represents peace of mind for merchants and farmers, neutralizing plans for territorial expansion and financial strengthening; proving once again that coordinated work is strength in the fight against this type of threat.
