Within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations, framed in the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, the Omega Joint Task Force achieved the destruction of two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) that were on the road leading from Puerto Rico to Granada, Meta.
The constant work carried out by the troops, with the aim of maintaining a safe environment in the south of the Meta department, led to the finding of two plastic barrels that apparently contained explosive material, so the place was cordoned off and with the support of the Explosive Ordnance Handling Group (Marte) of the Fourth Division, the respective destruction procedure was carried out.
These elements, which functioned as containers, had an activation system by command cable and apparently contained about 40 kilograms of Anfo and 10 charges of pentolite, each of approximately 450 grams, in addition to detonating cord and improvised electric detonators. The material was destroyed by the experts of the Military Forces
In this way, a high-impact terrorist operation was neutralized, which allegedly would have been carried out by members of the Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents. Troops protected the lives of the inhabitants of the region, tourists who transit through this route and the troops carrying out operations in the area.
