Troops of the Eighteenth Brigade of the National Army, in development of territorial control operations, through a checkpoint in the village of La Esperanza, on the road leading of the municipality of Tame to Arauca, department of Arauca, it was possible the arrest of an individual member organized armed group GAO ELN.
The incident occurred when this individual was driving a pickup truck and ignored the military units at the time of requesting the detention of the vehicle for review. In previous hours the theft of one truck, of the contractor company PAREX, with the same characteristics, had been reported.
The arrested man, when trying to escape, attacked on the troops, so the security plan of the checkpoint was immediately activated to prevent damages; in this way, an exchange of rifle fire occurred, where the driver of the van was injured.
Immediately, the combat nurses provided him with first aid, stabilizing him, and later evacuated him in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to the San Antonio hospital, in the municipality of Tame, Arauca, where he was assisted by specialized medical personnel.
This individual had in his possession a C贸rdoba brand pistol, a 9 mm caliber cartridge, thirteen 9 mm caliber cartridges and a USB. The arrested and the material were put into custody of the authority.
Military operations will continue to be carried out against this organized armed group, who are responsible for actions against civilians and Military Forces in this region of the country, by flagrant violations of Human Rights and violations of International Humanitarian Law.
