The individual would have a criminal incidence in the municipalities of Calamar, Mahates and María la Baja.
In a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, alias Eliécer, alleged financial ringleader of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo del Golfo, substructure Nicolás Antonio Urango Reyes, was arrested in the department of Bolívar.
The operation was carried out by troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bolívar and officials of the Criminal Investigation Section – SIJÍN, who, in compliance with an arrest order issued by the Mobile Second Criminal Court of Cartagena, found and detained this individual at a checkpoint on the road that leads of the village of Carreto in San Juan de Nepomuceno, towards the municipality of Calamar - Bolívar.
According to the investigations carried out, alias Eliécer was a financial ringleader in the area, with an impact on the municipalities of Calamar, Mahates and María la Baja, and belonged for about two years to this gang. In the same way, he would be accused of being the main responsible for the criminal extortion activities during the years 2023 and 2024 against the inhabitants, farmers, merchants, ranchers, palm growers and businessmen of the region.
With the arrest of this individual, it was possible to weaken the logistical and financial structures of this criminal organization that, with its criminal operations, constrains and intimidates the productive groups of merchants of the Colombian Caribbean. The arrested man was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office to answer for the alleged crime of association to commit aggravated crimes.
