Alias Chacal is accused of the manufacture and installation of explosive elements for terrorist operations against civilians and the Military Forces.
During a river operation, troops of the Colombian Navy, jointly with Colombian National Army and coordinated with the National Police, arrested alias Chacal, an alleged explosives expert ringleader of the Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo in the department of Chocó.
The operation took place in the Atrato River, in the sector known as Domingodó, near the municipality of Riosucio - Chocó department, where the crew of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 16 of the Colombian Navy, National Army troops attached to the Joint Task Force Titan and members of the Criminal Investigation Directorate and Interpol - DIJIN of the National Police conduct operations.
At the scene, members of the Military Forces arrested alias Chacal who had a court order issued by the Mobile Court of Control of Quibdó - Chocó department, for the crime of association to commit aggravated crimes.
According to intelligence investigations, alias Chacal had been delinquent for the GAO Clan del Golfo for 19 years and would be an expert in explosives of one of its substructures, due to his extensive knowledge in the manufacture and manipulation of improvised explosives, with interference in the municipalities of Bojayá, Carmen del Darién and Riosucio in the department of Chocó department, as well as in Vigia del Fuerte in the department of Antioquia.
This individual would presumably in the same way be in charge of carrying out selective homicides, drug trafficking, forced displacement, extortion and carrying firearms in those municipalities.
