On July 25, at night, the Colombian Air Force National Air Defense system detected an aircraft flying illegally over the Caribbean Sea, bound for Central America.
Immediately, Colombian Air Force aircraft came to intercept it, identify it and deny the entry into Colombian airspace. It was forced to divert its route. The aircraft information obtained by Colombia and shared with the Guatemalan Air Force, FAG, led to conduct the combined operations to capture the aircraft, which finally landed in northern Guatemala, thus achieving the finding of more than two tons of cocaine.
The flight of the aircraft had started in Mexico and went to Venezuela and from there to Central America. Colombian Air Force declared it suspect and warned the Guatemalan Air Force, getting the interception of the Jet Gulfstream III, with ID N450BD, in the village of Santa Ana Vieja, department of Peten in Guatemala.
As a result of the combined operation, 2,107 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride were found. The cost of that drug is approximately $ 27 million dollars. The aircraft was destroyed together with two other vehicles involved in this illegal activity.
