Wings of Hope arrive at the Sierra Nevada to evacuate indigenous in serious health.
On board a “metal bird,” as the aircraft of the Colombian Air Force are called by the indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the transfer of three Kogui Indigenous was carried out, who serve as spiritual guides of the people of Aldusabagui (Mamarongo), and were in a delicate state of health, for which it was necessary to carry out an aeromedical evacuation to take them to a health center in the city of Santa Marta.
During the transfer of the two Traditional Indigenous Authorities and the Mamo Mayor in a Bell 212 helicopter, complications occurred, which were assisted by the medical personnel of the Air Combat Command No.3, who acted immediately to stabilize the patient, who was transferred to a more complex hospital and is already being assisted by specialists.
In this way, the Colombian Air Force reiterates its commitment to the Kaggaba people, with the purpose of protecting the good physical condition and human rights of indigenous peoples, especially those who are in hard-to-reach areas.
