In the waters of the South Pacific, units of the Colombian Navy intercepted a ship manned by three foreign individuals that were transporting 96 bags of marijuana, apparently destined for Central America.
The maritime interception operation was carried out by Coast Guard units with international support, in the South Pacific, where the ship was found when it was sailing at high speed. During the inspection, the military personnel found the packages with narcotics.
The individuals, along with the illegal merchandise and the boat were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where officials of the Technical Research Corps conducted the review of the substances contained in the packages and conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, which left positive result for 2,915 kilograms of marijuana.
It is estimated that the illegal merchandise would reach a cost of 18 million dollars in the international illegal market, a figure that stops entering the finances of organizations at the service of drug trafficking. In the same way, the commercialization of 484 thousand doses of marijuana on the streets of the world was prevented.
The individuals were placed put into custody of the authorities for the crimes of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.
