The drug, during its way through the department of Huila, reached a commercial cost of 720 million pesos, a price that would increase significantly if it were taken abroad.
The truck had been conditioned with sophisticated compartments that would make it impossible to find the drug, but the expertise of the soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No. 27 'Magdalena' of the Ninth Brigade and the support of a human source led to find the millionaire shipment of marijuana.
The operation took place in the village of Camberos, in the municipality of Pitalito. Guided by the work of intelligence, the military unit installed a control checkpoint, making a search on that truck according to the characteristics provided by the informant.
The exhaustive inspection to the vehicle, used for the transport of petroleum, led to detect anomalies, when one of the travelers showed signs of nervousness, troops intensified the search that was made difficult by the presence of the petroleum; however, this was not an impediment to find the adapted covers inside.
The operation that counted on the support of the Technical Research Corps CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), continued and after removing the covers appeared brown packages of different sizes lined with plastic and they identified with different colors, apparently to differentiate each of the shipments according to the buyer. 882 packages were found.
After the discovery, two men identified as Jos茅 Duv谩n Casta帽eda Valencia and Norberto Mosquera Valderrama were caught in flagrante delicto for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotics. At the place of the events, they were put into custody of the authority.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the drug would have been loaded in the department of Cauca, to continue the route towards Putumayo and later it would be transported to Ecuador, Peru and Chile.
