In a military operation carried out by troops of the Colombian Navy and officials of the Attorney General's Office, attached to the Specialized Directorate against Drug Trafficking Against Criminal Organizations, it led to the finding of 641 rectangular packages containing 678.8 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which would have arrived to a port in Honduras. The illicit substance was found in a basement in a residential complex in the El Country neighborhood in the department of Bolivar.
This result was thanks to valuable information received through the Citizen Participation Network that alerted about the constant movement of suspicious packages from Cartagena, Bolivar, to the urban area, where the illegal merchandise was stored and subsequently sent by sea to ports in Central America. The Prueba Inicial Preliminar Homologada (Initial Approved Preliminary Test) -PIPH- was applied and left a positive result for cocaine hydrochloride. No captures occurred at the site.
According to information sources, the cocaine seized belonged to a drug trafficking structure associated with the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, which has criminal alliances within ports and maritime terminals in Central America and Europe.
This cargo in the illegal North American market would have a cost close to 23,700,000 USD, money that, thanks to the decisive operation of the Colombian Navy, in coordination with Colombian authorities, will not enter the finances of transnational criminal organizations.
