So far this year, the Colombian Navy has arrested 43 members of this illegal organization in the Pacific region.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Joint Campaign Plan, in a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, the arrest of six alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, was carried out in the Colombian Pacific.
The operations were simultaneously carried out by troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.21 of the Colombian Navy and National Police personnel, in Buenaventura, Cali and Candelaria, in the department of Valle del Cauca, where the six individuals were arrested in compliance with arrest orders.
Among those arrested are alias Trasparente, alleged ringleader of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the village of Bajo Calima, rural area of Buenaventura, who was notified of his arrest inside the Buenaventura Police Station, where he was being detained for other crimes; and alias Cianuro, alleged ringleader of the Focused Criminal Component of Cali, accused of committing crimes such as homicide, forced displacement, drug trafficking and extortion.
The six individuals had a valid arrest warrant for the crime of association to commit aggravated crimes, and are accused of belonging to the Baudó substructure, Valle group of this Organized Armed Group.
With these operations, the criminal structure of this Organized Armed Group, responsible for the forced displacements of the people of Bajo Calima, generating anxiety and intimidating the inhabitants of La Barra and Juanchaco, in the rural area of Buenaventura, is hit hard.
The arrested were put into custody of the Third Municipal Criminal Court for their prosecution.
