Through environmental activities these plantations are conducted by troops; this seeks to mitigate the environmental damage caused to ecosystems.
In the framework of Operation Artemisa, which is oriented to conduct operations that will contribute to the care of the environment and to counteract the deterioration of natural resources, soldiers of the National Army conducted in the departments of Magdalena and Atlantico, multiple activities or environmental efforts to promote the reforestation of native forests of these areas of Colombia have been carried out this year.
Thus, during the year 2021, the Second Brigade together with its battalions and State and non-profit institutions, have planted more than 40 thousand trees of native trees of the region in different municipalities of these departments, while managing to raise awareness about the importance of recovering ecosystems and preventing deforestation of hectares of forests.
These environmental activities have led to the planting of about 31,277 trees in the department of Atl谩ntico and 15,110 in the Magdalena of trees such as: Guayac谩n, Mamoncillo, Oak, Cedar, Soursop, Mahogany, Guamo, Trupillo, Icaco, Gualanday, among others.
It is planned to continue next year with these activities in favor of the care and conservation of the ecosystems of the Colombian Caribbean region. As well as, to promote forums that led to show the community the importance of planting plants.
