1,885 families of the departments of Bolívar and Sucre who inhabit the Mojana Sucreña, who have been hit by the wave caused by rains, have been benefited with non-perishable food, household items, toilet kits and clothing, thanks to the coordination of efforts conducted by the Colombian Navy and the private and public sectors.
Our navy men of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre, of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.12, of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.14 and of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17 have conducted river and Ground Combat Battalion operations, to reach the most remote and hard-hit areas of the departments of Sucre and Bolívar.
This is how, accompanied by volunteers, we have reached the villages of Puerto Franco rural area of Galeras, Isla del Coco, Montería, La Navidad, Ladera de Madrid and Puerto Nariño rural area of the municipality of Sucre in the department of Sucre and in the village Boca de San Antonio rural area of Magangué in the department of Bolívar.
More than 38 tons of humanitarian aid represented in non-perishable food items, clothing, footwear, household goods, Bienestarina (dietary supplement), drinking water, medicines, mosquito nets, repellents, and personal hygiene kits have been distributed with the support of the Governor of Sucre, the Red Cross, Civil Defense, Risk Management, the Mayor's office of Magangué, the Mayor of the Galeras, the Municipal Council of Youth of Sampués, Ecopetrol, soft Drinks Corozal, the Foundation Sucreños de Corazon and the Command to Support the Mission of Cartagena.
There has in the same way been the support of the inhabitants of Sincelejo and Corozal who have participated in the Donation that led to the collection of hundreds of humanitarian units of aid.
