In a joint, coordinated and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Aerospace Force, the National Army, the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), it was possible to dismantle a criminal organization specialized in the trafficking of narcotic substances in the retail modality in the localities of San Cristóbal and Rafael Uribe Uribe, in Bogotá.
In compliance with the arrest orders issued by the 80th Municipal Criminal Court, 32 people were arrested who, according to the intelligence report, generated daily profits of close to 27 million pesos from the sale of marijuana, cocaine and coca base. In addition, items such as armored vests, communication radios and a cash ($148,825,100 COP), among others, were found by troops.
According to the preliminary report by the institutions involved in the operation, after a rigorous investigation process that lasted for nine months, it was possible to collect evidence indicating the participation of the alleged members belonging to the GDCO organization in creating a climate of insecurity and fear among the residents of the neighborhoods. These individuals incited to carry out demonstrations that bore the title “protests against the authorities,” with the intention of causing physical damages to the agents of the Military Forces and the authority figures who will appear in the area.
In parallel, in the course of the operation, the Aerospace Force deployed its Resources to provide information about the organized criminal group known as Pegasus in a timely manner, which significantly contributed to the success and smooth development of the operation. The Colombian Aerospace Force will continue participating in this type of operations that demonstrate the determination of the authorities to confront and dismantle this type of illicit activities and contribute to the dismantling of criminal groups that pose risks to Colombians.
