825 gallons of chopped coca leaf and 245 liters of DIESEL are part of the liquid precursors found.
Through decisive military operations, carried out in the Catatumbo region, to neutralize the instability factors in this area of the country, troops of the Vulcano Task Force, in the rural area of Sardinata, Norte de Santander, managed to find two laboratories for the production of illicit substances, which were apparently part of the illegal financing system of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln and Residual GAO, GAO-r, Structure 33.
In the first operation, men belonging to the Ground Operations Battalion No.9, found in a rural area of Santa Cruz, Sardinata municipality, a clandestine laboratory for the production of coca base paste, in which members of the GAO-Eln, stored 660 gallons of chopped coca leaf, 245 liters of DIESEL and 40 liters of gasoline.
Similarly, troops attached to this military unit found another illegal structure for the production of illicit substances in the rural area of the municipality of Luis Vero, which belonged to the residual GAO 33. In the place, 165 gallons of coca leaf in process were found.
The Second Division of the National Army and its units will continue to carry out operations aimed at decisively hit the illegal activities of groups outlaw that seek to hit the economic and social development of the Catatumbo region. In the same way, it will maintain, through the deployment of its men, the security and defense of the inhabitants of the department of Norte de Santander.
