The Colombian Navy, in its permanent commitment to the protection and preservation of the sea and coastal environment, led a beach cleaning activity in the village of Punta Soldado, Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca, in which 12 tons of solid waste and recyclable material were collected.
The activity that took place over seven days, had the participation of 120 Sailors and navys who concentrated, classified and weighed the waste collected of the beaches, collecting them in sacks that were later taken to Buenaventura, aboard the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Bah铆a M谩laga.
Once in the Port City, the donation of 40 thousand bottles and plastic lids was made to the Buenaventura Siembra Esperanza Foundation, within the framework of the Buenaventura recycles for life and hope project, contributing significantly to achieving the goal of building the largest mural in the world with recycled plastic lids in this area of the country.
The importance of these activities lies on the coordination of efforts and Resources, conducted by the Colombian Navy and public and private institutions, to intervene spaces considered as critical points, both at sea and in areas of common interest, in which the largest amount of polluting waste is concentrated.
It should be noted that the Buenaventura Siembra Esperanza Foundation was created in 2019 as part of an initiative of the Navy of Colombia and the District Mayor's Office of Buenaventura, which aims to recover spaces of public interest and activities for the care of the ecosystem and biodiversity of the Port City and its surroundings. Since its creation, the Foundation has carried out numerous activities of cleaning and recovery of beaches and public spaces always counting on the unconditional support of the Colombian Navy and with the active participation of the people of Buenaventura.
