With these joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, it was possible to hit the finances of organized armed groups and common crime in the departments of Antioquia and Cauca.
In order to combat environmental crimes, the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, through its Brigade Against the Illicit Exploitation of Mining deposits; the Fourteenth Brigade and the Third Brigade, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Unit Against Illegal Mining and Antiterrorism of the National Police, intervened six mining production units in the departments of Antioquia and Cauca.
In the first military operation in Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, it was possible the intervention of three illegal mining production units (UPM), which had machinery that was disabled. This had a cost of more than 1,100 million pesos. These illegal UFMS extracted about 12,000 grams of gold per year, at a cost of approximately 3,500 million pesos.
In the second operation in Yolomb贸, Antioquia, the disablement of three mining production units was carried out, which had machinery for an approximate cost of 350 million pesos. Here it would be estimated to extract 1,200 grams of gold per month, with a cost of more than $353 million pesos, making it possible to hit the illicit activities of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
In the third operation in Puerto Nare, Antioquia, the disablement of five legal mining production units was carried out, in which it is estimated that there was an extraction of 10,500 gr of gold per month, with an estimated $3,000 million, which hits the illicit activities of the Clan del Golfo.
According to experts, the recovery time of the areas hit by these environmental crimes is considered to be more than 40 years. The Military Forces, through the deployment of their resources, continue to comply with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan and the policies of the national Government.
