The work which cost 270 million pesos. It will improve the quality of life of 186 families who will enjoy this universal right: the access to drinking water in their homes.
Nariño. The General Command of the Military Forces and the Southern Command of the United States gave the potable water treatment facility to the village of Cajapí, in the municipality of San Andrés de Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.
This work began as a dream in 2015, when the Task Force against Narcotics Poseidon of the National Navy, knowing the needs of the population, presented the construction project of the aqueduct to the Southern Command of the United States and then the pertinent studies and the budgetary process began in July 2017.
The project initially will benefit more than 500 inhabitants of the village, it had a total cost of 270 million pesos (US$ 94000), financed by the Southern Command of the United States of America. The work included the drilling of the 35-meter deep well, the purchase of the water treatment facility, the modification of the structure of the storage tank that now has a capacity of 13,000 liters of water and the pipeline to distribute the liquid to 186 homes in the hamlet.
With the arrival of potable water to Cajapí, its inhabitants will have a stable, economical and potable water service in their homes, given that at present they did not have the supply of this precious liquid. Among the benefits of having the vital drinking liquid, there is the improvement of the quality of life of these 186 families, who will see the decrease of gastrointestinal and skin diseases, among others, caused by the consumption of non-potable water.
The inauguration ceremony, presided over by Rear Admiral Harry Ernesto Reyna Niño, Head of the Comprehensive action Headquarters of the National Navy, counted on the participation of the Municipal Mayor John Preciado, as well as representatives of the Governorate of Nariño and some delegates of the institutions participating in the project. The community highlighted the message of thanks to the support of the National Navy in the frame of this process of development and peace that the municipality is experiencing, through the commitment to satisfy the needs and welfare of the inhabitants of Tumaco.
