At 5:20 in the afternoon of April 5, 2018, a terrorist attack took place against the energy tower No. 268 in the sector known as la María, in the Guayacán hamlet of the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño; the terrorist attack was caused by improvised explosive devices.
According to intelligence information, the terrorist attack would have been launched by residual GAO of the mobile column Daniel Aldana, the so-called “Oliver Sinisterra", which is a dissident group that commits crimes in that sector and is under the command of Walter Patricio Arizala known as alias "Guacho" .
As a result of this attack, the energy infrastructure of the region was hit, leaving the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño, without electricity.
Soldiers of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 2 started moving towards the place of the events in order to check the situation. In the same way, the corresponding investigations are carried out to find those responsible for this action and, in coordination with the energy service company of Tumaco (CEDENAR), re-establish the electric power as soon as possible.
