With more than 30 years of experience supporting soldiers and soldiers wounded in combat, as well as providing accompaniment to their families, the Matamoros Corporation launched this Sunday, for the eleventh consecutive year, one of its most iconic activities: the Race for the Heroes 10k .
On this occasion, special commandoes of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the National Police, surprised the athletes of the Ciclovía when they came jogging martially towards the National Park. The reason was to invite Colombians to join this important cause and register for the Race, which will take place in Bogota on Sunday, May 6.
"The race is an opportunity for Colombians to join in a show of gratitude towards the action and sacrifice of the veteran heroes who have given their lives to build a peaceful country. In this day, we dream our veterans will have a system of assistance representing a public policy aimed at them that not only involves concrete benefits, but in the same way promotes a culture of exaltation of our heroes wounded in combat. The operation of the Corporation in that sense should be active and aligned with the legislative initiative of the Ministry of Defense of the Veterans Law, announced by President Santos a few months ago and that we hope will be a reality in the short term," said Cristina Carrizosa , director of the Matamoros Corporation.
The event counted on the participation of several beneficiaries who through the sport have been able to recover and rebuild their life projects with the support of the Matamoros Corporation. Thus, soldiers, marines, police and members of the Navy, demonstrated that there are no obstacles to become great athletes and continue pursuing dreams.
"The Matamoros Corporation has been fundamental to rebuild our life projects, with the accompaniment provided to us and our families. It is through the support of all Colombians, through activities such as the 10K Race for Heroes, that we continue to inspire ourselves to always stay one step ahead," said Teodicelo Fajardo, a high performance athlete and beneficiary of the Corporation.
