Bogotá, D.C. The Minister of Defense, Luis Carlos Villegas, announced Wednesday that through the national operation against crime, the Public Force has dealt three important blows in the framework of the military and police operations “Agamemnon II” and “Atlas”.
Neutralization of alias 'Cherry'
Elite units of the Gaula (anti-extortion and anti-kidnapping group) of the National Police, in coordinated work with the Military Forces and the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General's Office, carried out the operation 'Heroes de La Guayacana' in which they carried out 18 raids , achieving the capture of 12 people and the apprehension of two minors of age, in the department of Nariño where the attack against CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) agents took place last Wednesday July 11; the agents were Willington Alexander Montenegro Ortiz, Yair Alonso Montenegro Galindes and Douglas Dimitry Guerrero Medina.
In this operation, it was possible to capture alias 'Cherry', who was the squad leader of the residual Organized Armed Group GAO 'Oliver Sinisterra'. "According to the information we have, alias 'Cherry' was the one who intercepted the truck in which the team of the newspaper El Comercio of Ecuador was kidnapped the last March 26 in the neighboring country, for its subsequent transfer to Colombia to be put into custody of alias 'Reynel', who was captured in Santander de Quilichao (Cauca) last week," revealed Minister Villegas.
Two rifles, 5 pistols, 3 revolvers, 40 mm grenades, pentolite, improvised explosive devices, 6 cell phones, communication radios, a computer and drugs were part of the elements found by the Armed Forces in Tumaco (Nariño).
The finances of the 'Clan del Golfo' were hit
As a result of the criminal investigation carried out by the operation “Agamenón II”, alias “Camilo”, finances collaborator of the Clan del Golfo in the lower Cauca of Department of Antioquia, was captured in Tarazá (Department of Antioquia) for the crime of conspiracy to commit a crime aggravated.
"The Public Force complied with the arrest warrant issued for alias 'Camilo' by the court of Caucasia (Department of Antioquia), who is allegedly linked to some cases of selective homicides, including social leaders," said the minister of Defense.
Capture of one of those wanted by Interpol
In Cali, while collecting money by illicit rents, alias 'Teniente', was captured. He is leader of a transnational criminal structure, formally linked to homicides, kidnappings, extortion, trafficking in persons and drug trafficking, both in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru. He was the second in the list of the ten most wanted by the Public Force of Ecuador.
Alias 'Teniente' was wanted through an interpol red notice and by the International Human Rights Committee for alleged responsibility in the kidnapping, torture and subsequent murder of a university student in May 2013 in Quito (Ecuador).
"Alias “'Teniente” had links with Colombian criminal networks to traffic cocaine and marijuana, and was accused for extortion and he coordinated the purchase and sale of stolen vehicles in the southwest of the country and Ecuador," Minister Villegas said.
