With this new declaration, the mine clearance specialists have decontaminated 24 municipalities of that department.
Cundinamarca. Soldiers of the Battalion of Humanitarian Demining Engineers No. 4, formally presented the new municipalities in the department of Cundinamarca, free of suspicion of antipersonnel mines.
These municipalities are Sasaima, Beltrán, Útica, Sesquilé, Pulí, Vergara, Pandi, Vianí, Guayabetal, El Peñón and Pasca, where 106 events were investigated and 26 victims of explosive devices had been reported.
The work of the mine clearance specialists in that region, has led to have 24 municipalities that enjoy the benefit of decontamination, since the first presentation of 13 municipalities free of suspicion, took place the last four of April, and today 11 new municipalities are presented in the department of Cundinamarca.
On this occasion, the soldiers set 102,346 square meters free, contributing to the progress of more than 57,000 people.
This formal presentation takes place in the frame of the liberation of 36 municipalities that President of the Republic, Juan Manuel Santos, had reported in a formal ceremony, last weekend in the municipality of Popayán, in the department of Cauca.
