During the military offensive nine people were captured in the area of the municipalities of Turbo, Apartadó and Medellín, Department of Antioquia. Alias “El Politico”, trusted man of alias ‘Otoniel’, was also captured.
Department of Antioquia. An operation led by the Force of Deployment Against Transnational Threats (FUDAT), with the support of the Multi mission Heroes of the seventeenth Brigade of the National Army, in conjunction with the Colombian Air Force and in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor General of the Nation, in recent hours, the finding and subsequent capture of nine persons of the gang “Clan del Golfo” that were carrying out criminal activities in the department of Antioquia.
This mission, which began in the evening hours, last Sunday, July 22, was possible thanks to the investigative work and military intelligence carried out during six months, which led to carry out raids on houses inhabited by members of the organization, which acted as support networks to the organized armed group Clan del Golfo in rural and urban areas, and were in charge of making criminal intelligence to the Public Force, in addition to commit illicit activities such as extortion and intimidation to the civilian population, as well as controlling the production, collection and preparation of coca base paste in the municipalities of Turbo, Apartadó and Medellín, Department of Antioquia.
Among the individuals, there is alias “El Politico”, who was in charge of recruiting new members to the GAO ‘Clan del Golfo’. During his 12 years in the structure, he recruited about 200 men in the regions of Urabá and the department of Córdoba. In addition, this was one of the trusted men of the brothers Úsuga David, and was currently serving as a leader in financial structure.
The most recent criminal operation of alias “El Politico” was to coordinate the attack against the Military Forces on the 23rd of July, in the village Galleta, of the municipality Nueva Antioquia.
Another of those captured is alias ‘El Paisa’, who was in charge of the logistics of the whole organization of crime and was the brain of the attacks on the Military Forces in the months of November and December of 2017.
This operation, which was conducted simultaneously in Turbo, Department of Antioquia, in the same way led to the capture of alias ‘Oscar’, alias ‘Pipeta’, who was recruited by alias “El Politico’ and was in charge of transporting provisions, military garments and war material to members of the criminal organization. Alias ‘Cebra’, who had the mission of reporting the movements of the Military Forces on the road that leads from the Nueva Antioquia, in Turbo, towards the village Playa Larga and La Ahuyamita.
The other people, who were captured in this heavy operation are alias “La Enfermera”, alias “Yonathan”, and alias “Risitas”, who were captured in the neighborhood of Versallas of Medellin and had around four years in the gang “Clan del Golfo” in the control of extortion of money of the collective passengers transporters and merchants of the sector of Manrique, they also commanded the whole network of micro trafficking in the Commune 70.
These individuals were put into custody of the office of the Prosecutor General of the Nation to be prosecuted for the crimes of aggravated homicide, drug trafficking, conspiracy to commit crimes aggravated and traffic, manufacture or carriage of firearms.
In the frame of this major offensive operation, in coordination with the National Police, was also captured in the same way, alias ‘Lody’, the cousin of alias ‘Otoniel’, who was in charge of managing the finances and properties of this criminal organization in the Urabá region in the department of Antioquia.
