In a solemn ceremony held at the military post in Chimbote, Peru, the XII binational Activity of Support for the development Colombia – Peru, 2018, successfully benefited more than 14,000 people.
For two months, Colombian and Peruvian ships, manned by sailors of the two nations toured the Putumayo and Amazonas rivers, bringing wellbeing, health and happiness, improving the living conditions of the settlers at the border, through cooperation and joint work conducted by the Republics of Colombia and Peru.
More than 80 men and women of the National Navy and civilian personnel, who were part of this journey, toured more than 60 points, including hamlets and municipalities, in Colombia and Peru, where they benefited more than 14,000 people, including children and adults from different populations and indigenous communities with about 59,000 services.
Crew members of the National Navies, navigated more than 2,000 kilometers, serving medicine, dentistry, obstetrics, nursing and nutrition, providing laboratory services, making the distribution of more than 140 tons in humanitarian aid, consisting of medicines, dental kits, clothing, footwear, household items, books, among others.
In the same way, it counted on the realization of recreational activities with a Special Group of Operations of Awareness - GEOS and “cinema below the stars,” to amaze the hearts of the children, and teenagers, who could enjoy for the first time a different entertainment activity.
This activity, had the support of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Civil Registry, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing - ICBF, Migration Colombia, the Service of National learning - SENA, the Directorate of Taxes and Customs - DIAN, Cine Colombia, Amerisur Resources Colombia, the Department for Social Prosperity - DPS, the Government of the United States through its Embassy in Colombia, the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation - APC, the Matamoros Foundation, the Children's Vision Foundation and the bank of Bogotá.
