Meta. Last weekend, the first stage of the project "Pinta La Macarena de Color" (paint La Macarena with colors) began. More than 50 houses in the urban area of La Macarena, Meta, were painted with the colors of Caño Cristales.
More than 68 people, including children and adults, as well as military, got together to complete the first phase of this project, which is led by members of the Colombian Air Force, the Rapid Deployment Force No. 1 the Task Force Omega components with the support of Professional Officers of the Reserve and the private company Invesa SA
"Carrying out this beautiful activity aims to integrate the Military Forces with the community through an ecotourism scenario characteristic of this area of southern Meta, such as Caño Cristales, which calls thousands of domestic and foreign tourists, and provide an economic line to this community that has been hit by violence in previous years" said Colonel Juan Carlos Rueda Cartagena, commander of the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Omega.
It was necessary to coordinate with the Air Combat Command No. 5 and the Military Transport Air Command - CATAM, who in a C295 aircraft, transported 150 gallons of paint, from the municipality of Rionegro in the Department of Antioquia, to La Macarena.
It is noteworthy that during this week 150 houses will be painted, as well as the School of the municipality, which will count on the students and teachers for this colorful initiative.
