Sucre. The Navy of Colombia through the Training Center for Peace Operations, Cencopaz, participated in the 10TH General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Training Centers for Peace Operations, Alcopaz, which took place in the city of Lima, Peru.
The main subject of the assembly was the "Innovation in training and capacity building in complex situations". It was attended by 11 member countries such as the United States and Germany, while Canada and France participated as observers.
This association of centers aims to contribute to achieve a safe and stable environment in those areas or countries that, due to geographical or historical reasons, have suffered internal political or social crises, which caused the dismantling of the institutional framework and wanted the intervention of the international community to protect the lives of citizens.
Among the main subjects, current and future peace operations were discussed, such as operations to improve security in the ground, capacity building to strengthen peace operations, among others. In the same way, the experiences in Peace Operations were analyzed, in order to improve the training and qualification of the future "Blue Helmets".
The assembly led to the exchange of experiences and knowledge to improve the training of the military. For example, Colombian Navy men work in international missions for the good reputation of the Navy and Colombia in the region.
