This activity was carried out in the sector of the municipality known as Quebrada el Medio, at the request of three families who had to start harvesting before they lost their plantations.
In development of the Horus Plan, conducted in areas prioritized by the National Army that seek to improve the social, cultural, economic and security conditions in the rural area of Ituango, north of Department of Antioquia, members of the Fourth Brigade helped three families coffee farmers, residents in the sector known as Quebrada El Medio, to collect more than 200 kilos of coffee and thus start harvesting in that area of the department.
Thanks to the coordination that the farmers made with the Committee of Coffee Growers and with the Horus Plan troops of the Artillery Battalion No. 4 “Coronel Jorge Eduardo Sánchez Rodríguez”, who is carrying out military operations in that region of the Department of Antioquia.
Some of them had already learned this activity in their places of origin, which facilitated the operation of all those involved in this task.
In this way, the soldiers of the National Army not only bring security to the communities through the military operations, but in the same way seek their economic development and, in this particular case, prevent losing that coffee production.
