In a combined and coordinated operation of maritime interdiction, carried out against the transnational drug trafficking organizations, which commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean, units of the National Navy of Colombia, the Attorney General's Office and foreign authorities, found 690 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, in the port of Algeciras - Spain.
The alkaloid was placed in 24 sacks, inside one of the containers that were on board the merchant ship 'Banak', used for the transport of bananas, it is a Republic of the Marshal Islands flagged ship; Within its itinerary, it made transit in the Caribbean Islands, in the port of Pointe à Pitre - Guadalupe.
According to intelligence information, the cocaine troops found belonged to one of the drug trafficking structures associated with the Organized Armed Group 'Clan del Golfo', which has a transnational criminal network in several European ports.
Thanks to the successful inter-institutional coordination, during the operation, it was possible to prevent nearly 35 million euros, estimated value of the illicit substance in the international black market, from entering the financial structures of the illegal armed groups.
