This material of war and military garments was found after a combat of encounter conducted by troops of the Army and that armed group in rural area of the municipality of Unguía
Chocó. In the framework of the Plan Diamante II and thanks to the work carried out by the National Army, troops of the Seventeenth Brigade, attached to the Seventh Division through the different territorial control operations carried out in the Urabá region, in recent hours find an illegal hideout with large material and accessories of war and communications that belonged to the substructure "Efrén Vargas Gutiérrez". It is considered a blunt blow to the criminal logistics of this GAO.
This military operation was carried out in the village known as Santa Marta, in the municipality of Unguía, in the department of Chocó, finding more than 5,500 cartridges of different calibers, a machinegun, two fragmentation grenades, a grenade launcher, a spare cannon, four rifles of different denominations, two links boxes and three magazines.
In the same way, troops found 222 units of campaign equipment, 18 grills for equipment, 181 camouflage fabrics, 159 multipurpose vests, 50 rifle holders, 204 black and green pullovers with logo of the group Efrén y Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez, 272 bracelets with identifications of the same front, and 10 radios, three radios base, 20 meters of repeater cable, 26 batteries for radio, nine antennas for radio and 19 full chargers.
Additionally, troops found more than 234 documents of the substructure which become of interest to military intelligence; all these elements would be used to attack on the civilian population and the security forces of the region.
This material is valued at more than $ 146 million pesos and was put into custody of the authorities for their judicial process.
