A one-year-old baby and his mother belonging to the Sikuani indigenous ethnic group were evacuated in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the Colombian Air Force on a night mission from Mapiripán, in the department of Meta.
The child had bacterial pneumonia for which the medical center of the municipality requested emergency medical evacuation to save his life.
Immediately, a crew of Air Combat Command No. 2 reacted from Apiay, in the department of Meta, and in less than an hour they received the baby and their mother to move them.
Once back in Apiay, the military doctor of the Colombian Air Force gave the patient to the ambulance of a medical center in Villavicencio.
This mission was successfully accomplished thanks to coordination conducted by the National Center for Personnel Recovery of the Colombian Air Force and the Medical institution “Nueva EPS”.
In this way, the crews and aircrafts of the Colombian Air Force work 24 hours at the service of the Colombians who need it the most no matter where they are. Thus one goes to the stars!
