Units of the National Navy in three operations of search and control of area, recovered animals of wild fauna, in the departments of Bolívar and Sucre.
Bolívar - Sucre. A total of 119 babillas (lizards) were found by troops simultaneously, in the urban area of the city of Cartagena, in the municipality of San Estanislao (in the department of Bolívar) and in the municipality of Puerto Franco (in the department of Sucre) within three abandoned bags. The operations were carried out by troops of the Marine Infantry Battalions No. 13 and No. 14.
The 119 babillas are valued at 318 million pesos and it seems that these animals would be illegally traded, producing an invaluable ecological damage to the ecosystems and the food chain in the region.
No arrests were made in the procedure. The rescued animals were put into custody of the Environmental and Ecological Police of Cartagena - Bolívar and La Corporación Autónoma Regional de Sucre - Carsucre.
The National Navy continues to carry out control operations to preserve the wildlife in the Montes de María region and, at the same time, citizens are invited to denounce any action that threatens the flora and fauna of the Caribbean region.
